Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment to Accessibility
At Macmillan Education, we believe in advancing learning for everyone. That’s why we’re dedicated to breaking down barriers and making our content, platforms, and websites as accessible as possible.
We take pride in our global presence and our commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. We aim to make a positive impact on the communities we serve. DEI is central to our mission as we develop differentiated learning solutions that cater to all students.
Our comprehensive DEI programme is built on three pillars:
-
Representation
We ensure our materials reflect and respect the diverse communities we serve, allowing students to see themselves in our resources.
-
Accessibility
We minimise barriers to learning so that all students can benefit from our resources.
-
Inclusivity
We support teachers in meeting the needs of all students, ensuring equal opportunities for learning.
We strive to eliminate bias and discrimination, nurturing the next generation to become global citizens who embody empathy, kindness, and inclusivity. These values are woven throughout our content.
We’ve signed the Charter of the Publishing Accessibility Action Group UK (PAAG) which reflects our commitment to accessibility.
Accessibility of our products
Our digital books are designed with accessibility in mind. Our publishing will include the following features to enhance accessibility:
-
Reading View: Our digital books can be viewed in 'Reading View', an accessible view of the book content that supports assistive reading technologies including screen readers.
-
Image Descriptions: All images include high-quality image descriptions (alt text) to provide context to users of assistive technologies such as screen readers and braille displays.
-
Audio Description: Our digital books feature audio descriptions along with closed captions for video and multimedia content, making them accessible for individuals with visual impairments.
-
Clear Colour Contrast: We ensure that all text and background colours meet the required contrast ratios for readability.
-
Accessible Interactive Content: Interactive content and digital activities are fully operable using assistive technologies.
Please note that some of our older titles, and certain titles sold outside of the European Union, may not include all these accessibility features. If you have any questions about the accessibility of a specific book, please get in contact with us.
